Immersive Art: Infinity Mirror Rooms

Yayoi Kusama is an 88 year old Japanese artist who creates a world in multiple dimensions. She says that it mirrors what she sees in her mind. She tries to find her place in this world where there are so many people and things that it is easy for one to lose one’s place. She has been doing this through a series of art ‘installations’ – art that is constructed and put together and experienced, not flat. These are infinity rooms where every surface is mirrored – all 4 walls, the ceiling and the floor.

The observer is to walk into these rooms and experience infinity, through the use of tiny lights and other creations of hers. One observer is allowed into the room for a minute each time. Her show is currently on exhibit in America. As you can imagine, the show gets sold out very quickly. In fact, it is sold out until January 2018!

Take a look at what all this fuss is about!
