Team India wins silver at the World Schools Debating Championship (2018)

For the first time in the history of the Indian Schools Debating Society, Team India has won the silver as well as the best speaker award at the World Schools Debating Championship that was held in Zagreb, Croatia from 17th to 27th July, 2018.

What is the World Schools Debating Championship (WSDC)?

Started in 1988, the WSDC is an annual English language debating tournament for school students representing their own countries. A different country hosts the event every year.

About WSDC 2018

This year the event saw participation from 68 countries. For the first time at the WSDC, it was an all Asia finals with China winning the gold medal and India the silver. Indian Team Captain Dhananjay Ashok was awarded the Best Speaker trophy.

India was represented by Dhananjay Ashok, Saranya Ravindran, Tejas Subramaniam, Hemanth Chakravarthy and Manya Gupta.
