Missile testing in North Korea

A lot of countries in the world have signed a Nuclear Non-Proliferation treaty – they agree not to spread the development of nuclear weapons any further and to develop nuclear energy only for peaceful purposes.

North Korea is not currently part of this treaty. Its ally is China. Its foes are South Korea and the United States.

It has been developing and testing nuclear missiles. This is a threat to nearby nations such as South Korea.

North Korea conducted a nuclear missile test on April 16, 2017. The test was a failure as it exploded 4-5 seconds into the launch.

Tensions are mounting in that region as it is believed that North Korea might attempt another test on or near April 25, 2017. The US has said that it is sending its Navy into the waters of the Sea of Japan to pose as a deterrent to North Korea. China has also asked its friend North Korea to stop this kind of testing.
