It’s finally happening! North Korean leader, Kim Jong-un crossed the Military Demarcation Line (MDL) and met South Korean President Moon Jae-in yesterday. The line is in the DeMilitarized Zone (DMZ), or buffer area between North and South Korea. The MDL has not been crossed by a leader of the two countries since 1953, when it was put in place at the end of the Korean War!
The Korean leaders are going to hopefully discuss ways to put an end to their fighting and find a way forward that works for both countries. They are also to discuss the North Korean nuclear weapons program, and come up with ways in which that can be managed. Fingers crossed!
