Do you know how sometimes, just SOMETIMES (!) you may tell your mum that you have taken your vitamins or other medicine but you MAY not actually have? After all, it couldn’t possibly be your fault if you forgot or find it yucky!

Well, it turns out that there are lots of people who are sick, but forget to take their medicines. So their sickness is not treated or controlled well as it could be because they are not taking the medicine as it should be taken.

Slackers beware! There is a new medicine in America. This medicine is for a particular mental illness, but the technology is the interesting thing. The pill has a digital sensor embedded in it. This sensor is activated once the pill is taken. The signal from the sensor is recorded by a wearable patch, and this then sends a signal via bluetooth to an app on the patient’s mobile device, and records the fact that the pill has been taken. This information can then be shared with the patient’s doctor, along with a few other metrics. The doctor can then keep track of how often the patient takes the medicine and can then use that information to help to treat the symptoms.

Imagine if this sensor were put into your vitamins! You can run…. but you can’t hide!
