The Neem tree is found in the Indian subcontinent, which means that it grows on the land in India and on that of its immediate neighbours.
The Neem tree is called the ‘curer of all ailments‘ in Sanskrit. Most parts of the Neem tree can be used to cure various aches and pains, and a lot of infections. People have used the flowers, oil, leaves and bark of this plant for its medicinal properties. It turns out that the Neem tree is very good at killing viruses and bacteria. In addition, making a paste out of its leaves and putting it on a wound helps to heal the wound. Its branches have been used as a natural toothbrush – people in rural India still chew the twigs to cleanse their teeth. From curing chicken pox to dandruff, it seems the Neem tree can do it all!
In fact, one of our readers sent us these photographs of how her son and his friend helped her to use Neem leaves to drive away mosquitoes from their holiday home!
