IPL Fever! Who are the Top 5 Players so far?

It’s the business end of the Indian Premier League as the finals will be played in Mumbai towards the end of the month. There have been plenty of great performances in the season so far and here’s who has stood out so far:

5. HARDIK PANDYA

Hardik Pandya occupies the 5th spot due to his proven all-round skills. After a fairly slow start to the season, the younger of the Pandya brothers exploded to pick up 18 wickets and score 224 runs with the bat in 11 matches. A genuine all-rounder, Hardik can turn the game on its head very quickly and if Mumbai are to qualify for the playoffs then the 24-year-old will have one of the most crucial roles in the campaign for the defending champions.

4. AMBATI RAYUDU

4th place on this list belongs to Chennai Super Kings’ Ambati Rayudu. Rayudu had been promoted as an opener many times this season and the 32-year-old has responded by scoring 423 runs in 10 matches at an astounding average of 42 and a strike rate of over 150. Not just as an opener, Rayudu has contributed handsomely as a middle-order batsman for the yellow brigade and has been one of the biggest reasons behind Chennai’s success in the season so far.

3. ANDREW TYE

One of the biggest reasons behind Kings XI Punjab’s success this season is Andrew Tye. The 31-year-old from Western Australia has picked up 20 wickets from 11 games including 2 four-wicket hauls. The pacer specialises in death overs (Overs 16-20) bowling and has had an immediate impact for Punjab. Out of 20 wickets this season, Tye has taken 13 wickets the death overs something that makes Captain R Ashwin very proud of his pacer.

2. RISHABH PANT

The silver medal on this list goes to Delhi Daredevils’ Rishabh Pant. While Delhi may have had a forgettable season, Pant has been able to justify his talent. The Delhi lad smashed 582 runs in 12 games with an eye-watering strike rate of almost 180. Pant has also broken a 10 year old record of Gautam Gambhir for scoring  most runs in a single season for the Delhi based side. Pant remember, was retained by Delhi Daredevils for a cost of Rs 15 crore.

1.MS DHONI

IPL 2018 has witnessed the resurgence of former India Captain MS Dhoni who has once again found the flair through which he terrorised the opposition bowlers. With the team in yellow this season, Dhoni has smashed 413 runs with a strike rate of over 160 in 12 matches. He has also blasted 21 fours & 29 sixes. Not just attacking cricket, Dhoni has also contributed immensely as a captain for Chennai Super Kings who have booked a playoff berth already.
