India’s PV Sindhu lost the final of the Badminton World Championships in China as her nemesis Olympic Gold Medallist from Spain, Carolina Marin, took the top spot.
It was completely a one-sided affair in the final of the Women’s singles in Nanjing, China. On the past 12 occasions that the two have played against each other, Marin and Sindhu have won 6 games each. This time the Spaniard dominated right from the start to win the match 21-19, 21-10 in a mere 45 minutes. This was Sindhu’s 2nd straight final loss in the World Championships. She is now the only Indian with 4 medals including 2 bronze so far in her career. Marin, on the other hand, picked up her 3rd gold after winning the Championships in 2014, 2015 and now in 2018.
